This is a compatible. G&G made it to work in the same machine as Brother's DR258. It is not a Brother product, it does not carry Brother's warranty, and on a machine still under the maker's warranty or on a maker's service plan the genuine is sometimes the only cartridge allowed.
The honest part, from a long time in this trade. On a machine that is being looked after, a compatible is a real option. On a machine nobody is maintaining, a poor cartridge can streak, leak or take the drum with it, and a drum costs far more than the cartridge ever saved. Keep the machine clean and serviced and this is a sound way to cut a running cost. Do not, and it is a false economy.
