Rental
One monthly figure covers the machine, the servicing and the toner. The machine stays ours, so replacing or resizing it partway through is a conversation rather than a refinance. It suits an office that wants the printing handled and nothing on the balance sheet.

Lease
A finance company owns the machine for a fixed term and you pay a fixed amount. Payments are usually deductible as an operating expense, and at the end you return it, renew it or make an offer for it. The servicing sits alongside it on a DSA agreement.

Commercial hire purchase

Choosing the right machine
If you want the machine gone at the end, rent it. If you want a fixed cost and a clean exit, lease it. If you want to own it, use commercial hire purchase. Whichever you choose, the machine should be sized to your pages first, because a machine that is too small costs more in call outs and toner than the right one ever costs in payments.

What sets the cost of a photocopier lease or rental

Leasing a photocopier for a school, a practice or an office

- Schools. Printing comes in waves around the term calendar and leans on A3, booklets and stapling, so the machine is sized to the busiest weeks rather than the average, and the agreement is priced on a realistic year of printing.
