Kyocera shows these as a message asking you to call for service, with a C and four digits, for example C6000. System errors between the machine's main boards show as F codes, such as F040. Paper jams show as J and four digits, such as J0501, with a letter on the panel for where to look. Write the whole code down before you do anything else.
Before you call
- Write down the full code, including the letter in front, and what the machine was doing when it appeared.
- If the panel says it is saving a log, wait until that message has gone. Then press the power key, wait for the power light to go out, and switch off at the main power switch.
- Wait a few seconds and switch back on. Many F codes and communication codes clear this way.
- If it comes back, or it is a fuser code in the C6000 range, stop there and call us with the code and the model. Repeated restarts will not fix the cause, and the fuser area runs hot.

Messages that are not faults
A toner container is running out. Not a fault: put in a new container. On a service agreement, order it from the customer portal.
The waste toner box is full or not seated. Not a fault, but the machine will not print until it is replaced.
The maintenance kit is due at its page count. Book a service so it is fitted before worn parts cause a fault.
A sheet did not feed, or more than one fed at once, from a cassette, the MP tray or the duplex section. Clear it; if it keeps happening from one cassette, that cassette's rollers are usually worn.
Paper stopped between registration and the fuser. Clear it gently, as the fuser area can be hot.
An original did not feed or stopped in the document processor.
The letter on the panel shows where to look: A and B for cassettes 1 and 2, C for the optional feeder, D for the MP tray, E for the paper conveying section, F for duplex, G for the fuser, H for the document processor, and later letters for finishers and side feeders.

Common questions
What is a C code on a Kyocera?
It is a service call: the machine reporting a fault it has found in itself. The four digits say which area of the machine it came from, for example the C6000 range for the fuser and the C9000 range for the document processor.
How do I reset a C code on a Kyocera?
Let any log saving message finish, press the power key, then switch off at the main power switch, wait a few seconds and switch back on. That clears many F codes and communication codes. Fuser codes and codes pointing at a part will come back until a technician fixes the cause.
What does C6000 mean on a Kyocera?
The fuser did not reach its working temperature during warm up. It is a fuser safety code, so it needs a technician. The usual causes are the fuser heater, the main fuser thermistor, or the wiring to the fuser unit.
What do the J codes mean on a Kyocera?
They are paper jams. The number says where the paper stopped and the letter on the panel shows which cover or cassette to open. A jam that keeps coming back in the same place usually means worn rollers, so book a call and quote the J code.
