We have kept to code groups for parts every one of these machines has, checked against a Fuji Xerox manual: 005 for the document feeder, 010 for the fuser, 062 for the scanner, 071 to 077 for the trays and paper path, 047 for the finisher, and 016, 024, 027 and 116 for the controller and network. The meaning given for each code is how the Fuji Xerox manual defines it. On your Xerox the area will match, but the exact condition behind a number can differ between models, so treat it as a strong pointer rather than a diagnosis.
Before you call
- Write down both groups of three digits and what the machine was doing at the time.
- If it is a jam, open the door the panel shows you and take the paper out gently, including any torn scraps. For other codes, switch the machine off, wait a minute, and switch it on again.
- If the code comes back, or it starts with 010, stop there. A fuser fault will not clear with restarts and the fuser area is hot.
- Call us with the code and the model name from the front of the machine.

005: document feeder
The feeder on top that pulls originals across the scanner.

Messages that are not faults
A toner cartridge is nearly out or empty. Not a fault: fit a new one. On a service agreement, order it from the customer portal.
The container that collects used toner needs replacing. The machine will not print until it is changed.
A module is close to its replacement count. Book a service so it is changed before it starts marking pages or throws a fault.
Load paper, or check that the size and type set for the tray match what is in it.

Common questions
What does 077-101 mean on a Xerox?
The 077 group is the paper path. In the Fuji Xerox manual we checked, 077-101 means paper did not pass the registration sensor in time. Clear the paper; if it keeps coming back in the same place, a roller or sensor needs attention.
What is a chain link code on a Xerox?
It is the six digit fault code Xerox machines show. The first three digits, the chain, point to the area of the machine. The last three, the link, describe the problem.
Why do Xerox and Fujifilm fault codes look the same?
Fuji Xerox, now Fujifilm Business Innovation, used the same chain link style of code as Xerox. The area each chain points to matches, but individual codes can mean slightly different things on different machines.
How do I clear a fault code on a Xerox?
For a jam, take out the paper where the panel shows. For other codes, switch off, wait a minute and switch back on. If the code returns, or it is a fuser code starting with 010, call us with the full code.
